No More Inputting Blogs at Kairosnews for Me
Thanks to the revised import module under development at Drupal, Kairosnews now adds items in RSS feeds as nodes into the database. New features include:
- The ability to set expiration times on the nodes (otherwise, the database would quickly grow out of control if all items in RSS feeds were permanently added).
- An option to allow commenting on specific feed items.
- Categorization of feeds using the taxomony system.
- And most important, the option of having a specific feed promoted to the front page, giving Kairosnews the ability to be a blog hub.
So Kairosnews now subscribes to a specific RSS feed from cyberdash which I can use to target posts on my personal blog for sharing on Kairosnews. They'll be imported directly from cyberdash. We'll be able to do the same for other members who have categorized RSS feeds, and I'm sure that once CultureCat is back online, Clancy will no longer be typing posts on Kairosnews either :)
Thanks to the Drupal developers for seriously extending Drupal's capabilities as social software!
